Hamas financier killed in Lebanon

In the village of Beit Meri, east of Beirut, 57-year-old Muhammad Sarour, who had been under US sanctions since 2019 for his role in transferring funds to Hamas from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was found dead in his home.

According to the Lebanese media, quoted by the blogger Abu Ali, who specializes in Middle Eastern topics, Sarur was shot – six bullets were fired at him, and the two pistols used in the assassination attempt were found in the kitchen in a special solution that removes traces.

Next to the corpse was a large sum of money – apparently, the killers wanted to demonstrate that this was not a robbery.

Note that the majority of the population of Beit Meri are Christians. Relations between them and Muslims in Lebanon deteriorated significantly after the kidnapping and murder of Lebanese Forces Christian party activist Pascal Slimane, whose body was discovered in Syria.
