The EU Court has accepted the request of the Russian billionaires to cancel the sanctions

The Court of the European Union has satisfied the claim of the Russian billionaires Pyotr Aven and Mikhail Fridman, who demanded to cancel the EU sanctions imposed on them.

Brussels also included the co-founders of Alfa Bank in the list of sanctions after Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine.

In its justification for the decision, the European Union alleged that Even and Friedman provided material or financial support to state-level decision-makers and supported actions and policies that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.

Russian billionaires categorically deny these accusations.

The Court of the European Union has decided that none of the reasons presented by the Alliance for including the billionaires in the sanctions lists are sufficiently substantiated. Official Brussels can appeal that decision.

In addition to the European Union, Even and Friedman have been sanctioned by the United States, Great Britain, Ukraine and a number of countries that support Kiev in the fight against Russian invasion.
