“I would like to address the women and men of State Police most cordial greetings, on the occasion of the celebration of 172nd anniversary of foundation. Civil passion and ethical rigor, closeness to citizens and loyalty to constitutional values, high professionalism and growing technical specialization, constitute the distinctive traits of a Corps at the service of the community, elements that make it a precious point of reference in everyday life”. The President of the Republic states this, Sergio Mattarella in a message sent to the Chief of Police, Director General of Public Security, Prefect Vittorio Pisani.
“The State Police, in accompanying the democratic life of the country, contributes to lay the indispensable premises for the full exercise of constitutional freedoms in a context – he continues – in which legality, social cohesion, protection of people’s rights and dignity against any abuse, intimidation or prevarication, constitute the horizon of his commitment”.
“I am challenges that the State Police faces every day in the fight against all forms of organized crime and terrorism, in actions to prevent and combat the criminal phenomena with the greatest impact in the various areas of the country, starting from the hateful episodes of violence and aggression, in particular those against women. In every field, the action of the Corps – underlines Mattarella again – contributes to giving an effective response to the security requests to guarantee the company consortium, even on new terrains, such as the digital environment, with the consequent risks of cybercrime and cyberbullying “.
“It is the delicate commitment – the Head of State continues – placed in guaranteeing the exercise of the right of assembly and expression of thought, together with the safety of people and the protection of property, in the correct management of public order, for which the Republic awarded, in 2023, the Gold Medal for Civil Valor to the women and men of the Mobile Units, for their dedication in carrying out the task. This is the objective, in the implementation of the security in the territories, as well as in international cooperation, of the management of the migratory phenomenon that occurs outside legal channels, in which the experiences gained with integrated and participatory approaches, which see institutional actors and components of civil society in the field together, are valuable “.
“The promotion of the values of respect for the rules and fair competition, particularly among young people, implemented by the Corps also through sports practice, is demonstrated by the Gold Medal for Civil Valor awarded to the Flag of the State Police, in relation to the competitive results and to the proximity and inclusion initiatives of the Fiamme Oro, which this year marks the seventieth anniversary of its establishment. On today’s anniversary – concludes Mattarella – I am grateful to express the feelings of gratitude from the entire national community to the members of the Corps for the constant and generous service provided on a daily basis. A heartfelt thought goes to those who lost their lives or were injured while carrying out the mission entrusted to them by the Republic.
