The increase in tension in the Middle East causes serious concern, the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced.

Official Yerevan calls to give priority to dialogue.

“It is necessary to avoid further confrontation,” the Foreign Ministry said in a note on X.

Late in the evening of April 13, Iran launched anti-aircraft missiles and rockets in the direction of Israel. Israel reported that the vast majority of the nearly 300 drones and missiles launched were intercepted by allies. Tehran announced in the morning that it is not going to continue the operation.

  • Iran launched the attack in response to an alleged Israeli strike on its consulate in Syria earlier this month, which killed senior commanders of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
  • Israel has not claimed responsibility for the strike, although it has previously acknowledged that it has carried out hundreds of strikes in recent years on targets in Syria it says are linked to Iran.
  • According to a White House official, the US president warned the Israeli prime minister that the United States will not participate in a counterattack against Iran if Israel decides to retaliate. A number of countries, including France, Russia, China, Egypt, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates, have called for restraint.
