The court rejected another motion to release Tonoyan from custody

Today, the anti-corruption court rejected another petition to release former defense minister Davit Tonoyan from detention, “Azatutyun” reported Andranik Manukyan, one of his lawyers.

The defense team of the former high-ranking official claims that there are all grounds for the release of Davit Tonoyan.

He has been detained for almost two and a half years in the case of “junk rockets” for embezzling about 4.5 million dollars. The former minister is the only one of the 7 accused in this case who is in prison. The court rejected many motions to change Tonoyan’s detention.

Davit Tonoyan himself does not accept the accusation, he stated that “a political persecution is being carried out” against him.
