Sit-in in support of Gaza in New York, police detained participants

Police detained a group of New York University students and teachers who staged a sit-in outside the Leonard Stern School of Business, CNN reports.

The protesters chanted anti-Israeli slogans. Some of them wrapped their heads in Arabic scarves (keffiyeh).

The strike was called in solidarity with Palestine and as a symbol of condemnation of Israel’s 200-day war in Gaza, the report said.

At times, groups of Israeli supporters carrying Israeli flags appeared alongside the protesters.

No serious incidents were reported.
