German MEP employee suspected of spying for China arrested

A man that works for a German legislator in the European Parliament has been arrested for alleged espionage for China said the German prosecutor.

The suspect, identified only as Jian G. in accordance with German privacy law, was arrested on Monday in Dresden explains the federal prosecutor in a statement.

Authorities did not specify which legislator he works for, but German magazine Der Spiegel reported that he is part of the Maximilian Krah, of the Alternative for Germany party, that he is the main candidate of the far-right formation for the elections to the community parliament scheduled for early June.

The news came a day after three Germans suspected of spying for China and organizing the transfer of technology information for possible military uses were arrested in a separate case.
