British police arrest 3 in connection with drowning migrants

British police said on Wednesday that they had arrested three people in connection with the drowning of five migrants, including a child, in the English Channel on Tuesday.

The British National Crime Agency stated that two Sudanese citizens (22 and 19 years old) and a South Sudanese citizen (22 years old) were arrested on Tuesday evening, and were arrested on suspicion of facilitating illegal immigration and illegal entry into the United Kingdom. Craig Turner said, Deputy Director of Investigations at the agency: “This tragic incident once again shows the threat that crossing the English Channel poses to life and highlights the importance of arresting the criminal gangs that organize these trips.”
