Military propaganda or real tactical move? The underside of Israel's vast offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon

If the lull between Israel and Iran seems very real, the clashes are not abating on the Lebanese front. The Israeli army announced on Wednesday that it was carrying out an “offensive action” in “the entire south” of Lebanon, specifying that its air force and artillery had struck 40 targets of Hezbollah, an ally of both Tehran and Hamas. This massive offensive comes the day after an attempted Hezbollah armed drone attack on two military bases in northern Israel.

The Israeli army, through its Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, confirmed that troops had been “deployed in large numbers to the border”, affirming that “half of Hezbollah commanders in southern Lebanon have been eliminated » while “the other half is hiding”. “Pure propaganda” mocked a source close to Hezbollah to the media L’Orient-Le jour. The number of Hezbollah members “occupying positions of responsibility who have been killed can be counted on the fingers of one hand,” a source within the powerful pro-Iranian movement told AFP.
