King Charles is very ill. The English tabloids fear the worst

It’s the question that everyone asks in British society and in the corridors of power, but that no one will ever ask: how is King Charles really doing? According to some British tabloids, things are not going well at all and the sovereign is much worse off than his staff suggests. The Daily Beast talks about it today in an article, but other tabloids also seem to air the same hypotheses.

Charles would not react well to anti-tumor treatments and Buckingham Palace has already made changes to the “Menai Bridge”, the official protocol for the sovereign’s funeral. “It’s gotten worse,” insiders say. And an old family friend reportedly told the Daily Beast: “Of course he is determined to beat the cancer. Everyone remains optimistic, but he is really very sick. More than they let on.”

Not only would plans for Charles’ funeral now be updated regularly, but the tabloids are also made aware of a document, reportedly circulating in Whitehall, examining what went right after the Queen’s funeral and what could be done better the next time a monarch dies. The government department responsible for state funerals, the Cabinet Office, refused to comment on claims that the Operation Menai Bridge document (as Charles’ funeral plan is codenamed) is regularly updated and stressed once again that not commenting on such plans is routine.
