Netanyahu says he will “never” accept the authority of the ICC and accuses it of “undermining” the right to defense

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, warned this Friday that his government “will never” accept the authority of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which he has accused of trying to “undermine” his right to defense, amid the possibility that he could order the arrest of Israeli soldiers and ministers.

“The threat against IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldiers and public figures in Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East and the only Jewish state in the world, is scandalous,” Netanyahu protested in a message. published on his Telegram account.

“We will not give up. Israel will continue until victory in our just war against the abominable terrorists who seek to destroy us. We will never stop defending ourselves,” the Israeli prime minister emphasized.

In this sense, Netanyahu has stressed that although none of the ICC’s decisions will affect Israel’s actions, “they will set a dangerous precedent that threatens the soldiers and public figures of all democracies who fight against criminal terrorism and dangerous aggressions.” .

Last week, Israeli media reported that Netanyahu’s cabinet would have held an emergency meeting due to the possibility that the ICC would initiate an investigation and issue arrest warrants against Israeli soldiers and ministers for alleged violations of International Law in Gaza.
