President Biden compared Mr. Trump to a '6-year-old child'

President Biden attacked, likening his predecessor Donald Trump “to a 6-year-old child” at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association party.

US President Joe Biden on April 27 attended the annual dinner with the White House Correspondents’ Association at the Washington Hilton hotel in Washington, DC. The event has been going on for centuries, with hundreds of journalists, politicians and celebrities attending the grand banquet hall.

Mr. Biden, 81 years old, used this event to attack Republican opponent Donald Trump, 77 years old, as the two men are about to rematch in the November presidential election.

“Yes, age matters. I’m an adult racing against a 6-year-old child,” the US President said.

Mr. Biden continued to attack his predecessor, emphasizing, “My Vice President really supports me”, because former Vice President Mike Pence refused to support Mr. Trump’s election this year.

Mr. Trump described this event as “really bad”. “Cheating Joe is truly a disaster! It can’t get worse than this!”, the former president posted on the social network Truth Social.

Protesters gathered outside the Washington Hilton hotel to criticize the Biden administration’s support for Israel in the war in Gaza, mentioning journalists who died in this territory. Hundreds of protesters called on journalists to boycott the event and booed government officials as they entered the hotel.

Mr. Biden avoided the large protest in front of the hotel by going through the back entrance. However, he still faces a smaller group of protesters calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Kelly O’Donnel, president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, declined to comment on security measures for the dinner. US Secret Service spokesman Alexi Worley said the safety and security of protected individuals is their top priority.

The White House Correspondents’ Association was founded in 1914 and has held an annual dinner since 1921 to honor reporters who cover the president and raise money for scholarships.
