The Libyan Parliament is ready to hold elections in 2024

Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, announced the Council’s readiness to hold simultaneous presidential and legislative elections before the end of this year. Saleh said in press statements on the sidelines of his attendance at the Arab Parliament meetings held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, that the country is ready for this entitlement, calling on the international community for support and encouragement.

Saleh stated that “the constitutional rule, the law for electing the president, and the law for electing parliament have been issued, and that the Election Commission is ready, and the mechanism for electing the prime minister is in place, and we want the international community to encourage us.”

He pointed out that “there are people who do not want to leave the chair in Libya.”

He revealed that there were contacts with the State Council to reach an agreement on the mechanism for forming the government, saying, “In principle, we agreed that the candidate would be recommended by 20 members of the State Council and 10 members of the House of Representatives, and he would advance with those who obtained the same conditions to the House of Representatives.” .
