NATO condemns Russia's sabotage and interference in allied countries and warns that there will be a response

NATO has condemned this Thursday Russia’s growing campaign of sabotage and interference in different allied countries and has warned Moscow that it will respond using the tools at its disposal against these hybrid attacks.

In a joint statement, the allies of the military bloc claim to be “deeply concerned” about Russian interference in allied territory, in reference to the hostile actions detected in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany and the United Kingdom.

“These incidents are part of an increasingly intense campaign of activities that Russia continues to carry out throughout the Euro-Atlantic area, including on Alliance territory and through proxies. This includes disinformation, sabotage, acts of violence, jamming and electronic , disinformation campaigns and other hybrid operations,” the statement said.

NATO countries condemn Russia’s behavior and ask it to comply with its international obligations, ensuring that Russian maneuvers will not intimidate allies in supporting Ukraine in the face of aggression in the east of the country.

In this sense, the members of the Atlantic Alliance warn that they will take measures individually and collectively against these actions by Russia. “We will continue to strengthen our resistance capacity and apply and improve the tools we have to counter Russian hybrid actions,” they assured.

In this sense, they call for NATO as a whole to be ready to “deter and defend against hybrid actions or attacks.” In recent times, Justice in several European countries has pursued individuals involved with ties to Russia in cases of hostile actions and espionage.

Among other cases, the authorities of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have accused the Russian authorities of manipulating their geolocation systems and causing interference with GPS signals in the Baltic Sea area.
