The media published the name of an Israeli woman who died on May 7 in Rio de Janeiro. This is Alma Buadana, who arrived in Brazil more than three months ago.
The Brazilian media presented a version of what happened from the words of the girl’s companion. He said they were walking when a motorcyclist approached them. According to the man, they decided that it was a robber; while fleeing, Alma tried to overcome a retaining wall near the rise to Corcovado and fell from a 15-meter height, falling to her death.
However, the police note that the girl’s companion is confused in his testimony: during interrogations, he spoke either about a motorcyclist, or about someone in a red car. Homicide detectives are checking all the leads, apparently suspecting the girl’s companion, who says that he met Alma recently – in a hostel in Copacabana.
According to investigators, at about 19:00 on May 7, Alma Buadana was walking with her companion along Almirante Alexandrino Boulevard, near Mount Corcovado. Then what happened – the girl fell from a great height, falling to her death.
It was established that Alma Buadana flew to Brazil more than three months ago, the first 90 days she lived in Salvador, in northeastern Brazil, and ten days ago she arrived in Rio de Janeiro.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said: “A young Israeli woman tragically died after falling from a great height in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Foreign Ministry’s Office for Israelis Abroad, Israeli Consul in Brazil Neta Abrahami, and a representative of Keren Ha-Yesod” in Rio de Janeiro Mariaon Hirsch, are helping the family organize the transportation of the body to Israel for burial.”
