Activist Greta Thunberg is sentenced for the third time for disobedience

A Stockholm court sentenced, this Wednesday (8), Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg to a fine for two counts of disobedience for taking part in protests in front of the country’s Parliament.

On March 12, the 21-year-old activist sat in front of Parliament with a group of other protesters as part of one of her climate change protests, and did the same two days later.

In both cases, the police asked the activists to leave, but when they refused, they were forcibly removed.

Greta Thunberg admitted the facts, but pleaded not guilty to the charges. “It was an emergency situation and still is. And it is an emergency situation in which we all have an obligation to act,” she said during the trial.

The activist had already been convicted twice in Sweden for the same charges since last year.
