Egypt warned this Thursday “of the danger of an escalation” in the region if an agreement is not reached between Israel and Hamas, according to security sources cited by Al Qahera News, who added that the Egyptian delegation is intensifying its efforts “to find a consensus formula on some points of dispute”, which they did not detail.

Other Palestinian factions join the negotiation

They joined the process this Thursday representatives of Islamic Jihad and other Palestinian factionsin addition to Hamas, a sign that “the controversial points are being resolved” and that “there are signs that an agreement is maturing,” according to the sources cited by the network.

The truce proposal accepted by Hamas stipulates a pause of three phases, of 42 days each, which would lead to the exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a “sustainable calm” in the Strip, as well as the increase in humanitarian aid to Gazan civilians, among other points.

The new round of negotiations coincides with the military operation launched on Monday by Israel in Rafah, at the southern end of Gaza, in which Israel took control of the Palestinian side of the crossing of that city and where at least 35 Palestinians joined the and 35,000 who lost their lives in the seven months of war.
