About 20 thousand Israelis will be affected: Wizz Air cancels flights
Wizz Air, the only low-cost company operating in Israel these days, is significantly reducing its flights from Israel to various destinations and back, as N12 learned today (Thursday). The company’s move is expected to affect approximately 20,000 Israelis. Surprisingly, the company did not officially announce the cancellation of the flights and sent a message to thousands of passengers. The lines that are currently canceled are to the Israelis’ favorite “belly-back” destinations. Flights to Crete, Santorini, Rhodes and Burgas have been completely canceled until further notice. Also, the frequency of the lines to London, Sofia, Budapest, Vienna and Katowice has been significantly reduced. That means some of the flights to these destinations were canceled.

It is believed that the passengers for whom the flights were canceled have already been notified. The company has not yet given a response or issued an official announcement regarding the decision.

“The unstable security reality does not allow certainty for the airlines and the passengers that the flight schedule to Tel Aviv in the summer will be fully activated,” said Yaniv Lenis from the popular “Secret Flights” Facebook group. “In order not to risk many financial losses in the event of flight cancellations, Wizz Air decided to reduce activity for the upcoming summer season.”

He added: “I hope that the Ministry of Transportation is involved and works with all the foreign airlines in order to meet their needs and ensure as much certainty as possible, so that they return here in full activity as soon as possible.” Last month, the company announced that it would return to operations in Israel, at the same time as a similar announcement by the American airline United Airlines.
