“Jews are not welcome, cancel your reservation”
An Israeli couple entered a booking site about two weeks ago and booked a room in a guesthouse in the resort town of SJENICA in Serbia. When the owner of the apartment, who asked them where they were from, discovered that they were from Israel, his response was not long in coming: “Sorry, Jews are not welcome in our apartment, please cancel your reservation, thank you,” he wrote to them. The Bezelmo organization, which decided to fight against the anti-Semitic decision, sent a strong appeal to the management of the booking site, demanding that the B&Bs of those owners be removed from the site. The CEO of the organization, Shay Glick, sent a sharp letter on the matter to the company’s management, in which he stated that Booking prohibits any discrimination and hatred, and certainly anti-Semitic statements towards its customers.

Following the organization’s request, the booking company decided to remove the accommodation apartments from the site, after their owner violated the company’s procedures. “This is a very serious case that should not be put on the agenda. I am glad that the Booking company understood the seriousness of the situation and removed the guest house and guest rooms of that owner from its website,” notes Glick, who adds: “Anti-Semitism is a worldwide epidemic, and the whole world must unite to fight against it “.
