Sleep travel costs thousands of dollars

Taking care of sleep while traveling is increasingly of interest and the price for this experience reaches thousands of dollars.

The sleepover tourism market is estimated to grow by 8% and reach $400 billion between now and 2028, according to a market study in the US. Around the world, hotels are racing to offer better sleep experiences to travelers.

In London, The Beaumont hotel has a 69 square meter suite designed by artist Antony Gormley, featuring dark wood panels, no TV, and no phone signal to ensure maximum concentration for sleep. Sleep. In the bedroom, the bed is the only piece of furniture. The rental price for this room is nearly 800 USD per night.

In Ireland, Dromoland Castle has appointed Ryan Logue as “sleep director”. Logue’s specialty is advice on everything about sleep, from scent aids to room temperature. Last year, the facility received Tripadvisor’s “Best Sleep” designation.

Meanwhile, The Alpina Gstaad hotel in Switzerland also commented that “sleep is one of the biggest health problems of our time”. This property offers new “Sleep Suites” room categories that include air-conditioned beds and additional amenities such as blue light blocking glass.

Hyatt hotels in both New Zealand and Australia offer special sleep services for $50, including bath salts, eye masks, teas and special aromatherapy oils. Meanwhile, The Dylan in Amsterdam offers a special mattress sleeping experience called FreshBeds. The temperature-adjustable mattress, equipped with a medical-grade HEPA filter, ensures clean air. This mattress alone costs up to 16,000 USD, the room rental price is more than 1,300 USD.

Max Dijkema, Marketing Director of The Dylan, says sleep is part of the healthy living trend. With a good night’s sleep, people can rest and take better care of themselves. Sleep while traveling is also becoming a comprehensive business model, from sleep coaches, room sprays, exclusive furniture to choosing the best bed.

“It’s smart marketing that addresses a problem many people have with sleep,” Dijkema said. With this service, hotels can sell many services from technical equipment, care therapies and cooperate with bed manufacturers. Not only profits, sleeping services also help enhance the image of the hotel.

While hotels invest in sleep care, Floris Wouterson, a sleep expert, shares that hotel services should not be viewed as “the solution to all sleep problems.” According to Wouterson, customers should only view such services as support tools instead of solutions.

“It shouldn’t happen that sleeping better in a hotel is better than at home. That means the house has a lot of problems that need to be solved,” Wouterson said, but also emphasized that “it’s good because bed rest becomes a worthwhile problem.” Pay attention when booking hotels”.
