Banco Santander will be the new sponsor of the Williams Racing Formula 1 team starting in the 2025 season, when Spanish driver Carlos Sainz also joins the team, through a multi-year agreement that will complement the bank’s global sponsorship of the competition, according to a statement issued this Monday.
“Santander has today announced a new sponsorship with the Williams Racing Formula 1 team. The bank will become an official sponsor of the team from the 2025 season. This multi-year agreement will complement the F1 sponsorship, as Santander will also become the official bank of the competition in 2025”, the entity advanced.
In September, Banco Santander announced that it will be the official sponsor and bank of Formula 1 in a five-year agreement that will begin in 2025, in a global alliance with the competition that will come after leaving the Ferrari team with the aim of strengthening its visibility in its main markets.
Now, like Sainz, Santander signs for Williams with a sponsorship that will allow the entity to “offer customers exclusive experiences, with access to the paddock and events with drivers.” “Williams also offers Banco Santander a global platform to increase its brand visibility, especially in the United States, where there are three F1 races and the team will display the Openbank brand, following the recent launch of the brand in the country,” he celebrated.
The collaboration includes the presence of the Santander or Openbank logos on the upper part of the racing car chassis, on the chin of the drivers’ helmet and on the team’s sleeve, as well as participation in exclusive events and digital campaigns. In addition, the Santander brand will already appear on the Williams car for the end-of-season tests this Tuesday in Abu Dhabi.
The head of Communication, Corporate Marketing and Studies at Banco Santander and vice president of Santander Spain, Juan Manuel Cendoya, was “delighted” to sponsor Williams to also “continue supporting Carlos Sainz in his new stage.” “This is one of the historic teams with the most legacy in F1, and complements our role as official bank of the competition with a focus on our main markets,” he said.
For his part, James Vowles, Williams team director, applauded Santander’s entry into its “growing list of iconic and innovative partners from 2025.” “Joining forces with a large global bank trusted by tens of millions of people around the world is another significant step in our transformation, to engage and excite fans for years to come,” he said.
