Christmas festival of peace. But apparently not for the staff at Buckingham Palace. After a party at the palace, they went to a local pub. And there was a big fight there. An investigation is now underway.
According to the British tabloid The Sun, an official reception took place at the royal palace on Tuesday evening, after which about fifty staff members continued the evening in a local pub. That’s where the party got out of hand. Glasses were reportedly smashed and staff attacked during a brawl.
According to London police, a 24-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault, damage to property, drunk and disorderly conduct. “She was arrested and released the next evening with a fine for disturbing the peace,” it said.
A Buckingham Palace spokesman told French-language news agency AFP that he was “aware of an incident outside the workplace involving a number of staff”.
“The facts are being fully investigated, a rigorous disciplinary process is being applied and appropriate action is being taken,” he added.
What these measures and sanctions are has not been communicated.
