Le Pen says “prolonging macronism will lead to failure”

The leader of the nationalist right in France, Marine Le Pen, demanded from the new prime minister, François Bayrou, a change of political course to avoid suffering the same fate as his predecessor, the conservative Michel Barnier, deposed by a motion of censure in the last week.

“Any policy that consists only of prolonging Macronism, rejected twice at the polls, can only lead to a dead end and failure,” said Le Pen on the X social network.

Unlike the radical left party France Unsubmissa (LFI), its party signaled that it will not present a motion of censure straight away, but asked Bayrou to begin negotiations on the nation’s budget.

“We ask him to do what his predecessor did not want to do: listen to the opposition in order to construct a reasonable and elaborate budget,” declared Le Pen.

If Barnier’s government seemed totally dependent on the nationalist right, since the left bloc rejected him immediately, Bayrou seems to enjoy a certain leniency from socialists, communists and ecologists.

Bayrou will now have to appoint an Executive and outline his main political lines, on which his survival as head of government will depend.

In turn, LFI parliamentary spokeswoman Mathilde Panot announced that a motion of censure would be presented in the coming days.

Environmentalist leader Marine Tondelier said she is considering supporting the motion, while communist Fabien Roussel said he will not do so from the start, as he is waiting to “know Bayrou’s objectives.”

Something similar to what the socialist leaders have said, who have not yet spoken after the announcement of Bayrou’s appointment, as well as the conservative right.
