Athletico idol, Marcelo Cirino agrees with exotic Asian club

Idol of Athletico in winning the Brazilian and South American Cups, Marcelo Cirino was announced this Thursday (9) by PSS Sleman, from the first division in Indonesia.

The athlete defended the worker last season, when he played just 13 games and scored one goaland was dismissed from the club, by mutual agreement, leaving him free on the market. The athlete was hired at the beginning of the year by Fantasma as one of the bets for the season, but he was unable to become a regular.

In the Campeonato Paranaense he scored one goal in eight games. In Series B, he played just three matches. Cirino had already had a bad season for Furacão, between 2022 and 2023, when he was removed due to behavioral problems and spent two months training separately. Before leaving the group, he also suffered an injury and needed surgery.

“A player who had an incredible journey in Brazil’s Série A has finally arrived at our club! Welcome to PSS Sleman”the club wrote in the announcement on social media.

Athletico’s idol shone in unprecedented achievements

Cirino’s first title with Athletico was the 2018 South American Championship. An achievement he had tattooed on his skin. The following year, he starred in the “cirineta” in the final of the Copa do Brasil, against Internacional, in a play that led to Furacão’s title-winning goal.

A graduate of Rubro-Negro, the striker also played in Series B for the team in 2012, when he gained access and played in the First Division in 2013. Before that, he also played for the professional team in 2010 and 2009, when he made his debut.

After leaving Athletico in 2019, Cirino went to Chinese football, where he played for Chongqing Dangdai, in 2020. In 2021 he returned to Brazil, but was unable to stand out for the teams he played for.

PSS Sleman is in 15th place in the Indonesian league, five points away from the relegation zone. The first division has 18 teams and three are relegated. PSS currently has 15 points from 17 games.
