Billions of NIS in the war: Elbit’s giant deal in Greece is underway

Company Elbit Systems announced today (Monday) a deal worth 2.3 billion shekels (650 million euros) for the sale of PULS type artillery systems to the Greek army. The PULS system is a multipurpose weapon system for launching missiles and rockets at various ranges, the Israeli company said. Elbit Systems will serve as the main contractor in the project and will supply PULS launchers and a comprehensive ammunition package, which includes guided rockets for different ranges.

According to the company’s announcement, the agreement will be implemented over four years, after which a support and maintenance period of ten additional years will be included. In accordance with the strategy of the Ministry of Defense and the policy of the Greek government, the deal will also include industrial cooperation between the countries and the production of some of the system components in the defense industries in Greece. The security relations between Israel and Greece have tightened significantly in recent years, including the export of air defense systems and more.

The Israeli Defense Company said that the signing ceremony for the deal was held today, in the capacity of the Chief of Defense Staff at the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General (Ret.) Yair Coles; The head of the General Administration for Defense Procurement and Armaments (GDDIA) in the Greek Ministry of Defense, General Ioannis Bouras; the CEO of Elbit Kibbeh, Udi Vared; and other senior officials from both countries.

Unlike other deals recently signed in Europe or which are in advanced negotiations within the framework of a European partnership with the KNDS company in Germany (EuroPuls), this is a deal that is 100% of Elbit Systems. The Greek Parliament approved the deal already last December, and according to the reports, it is 36 multi-launch launch systems as well as the rockets of various ranges that will be used. The systems are supposed to be stationed on Greece’s northeastern border with Turkey and on islands in the Aegean Sea.
