CENTCOM: Iranian port blockade fully in effect

The military leader emphasized that the blockade applies to ships of all types trying to enter or leave Iranian ports in both the Persian and Oman Straits. “However, we do not restrict the freedom of navigation of other ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz,” he stressed.

On April 14, CENTCOM reported that there were no violations during the first 24 hours of the blockade. At the request of the United States, six ships attempting to set sail from an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman were forced to turn around.

At the same time, the Fars agency claims that an Iranian supertanker with a carrying capacity of two million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz and entered Iranian territorial waters – despite the naval blockade declared by the United States. It is emphasized that the ship did not turn off the transponder.
