The giant leak from Apple: this is what Tim Cook’s glasses of the future will look like

According to the revealed details, this is a different product from Apple’s original vision for augmented reality glasses. While in the past the company aimed to develop advanced glasses that display layers of information about the real world, now it focuses on a simpler model, similar in approach to Meta’s Ray Ban glasses, which are intended for everyday and comfortable use.

The new glasses, called in the internal development by the code name N50, will allow taking photos and videos, making calls, listening to music and receiving notifications, all through voice control. The connection to the iPhone will be central, and the voice assistant Siri is expected to undergo a significant upgrade to support a smooth and hands-free user experience.

One of the most prominent features is the use of artificial intelligence and visual recognition. The glasses will be able to understand the user’s environment, and provide relevant information in real time, for example more accurate navigation instructions or reminders related to what the user sees in front of him.

In terms of design, Apple is not satisfied with one model. According to the report, the company is developing at least four different styles of frames, including large rectangular models, slimmer classic-style designs, and round or oval frames in various sizes. The goal is to create a product that will also be an identifiable fashion item, similar to AirPods or the Apple Watch.

One of the intriguing innovations is the camera system: instead of round lenses, Apple is considering a design with vertical oval lenses, surrounded by dedicated lighting, a move that may differentiate it from the competition. The raw materials are also expected to be more luxurious, with the use of acetate, a more durable and higher quality material than normal plastic.

Apple’s strategy is clear: not to be the first, but to be the best. As it did with the iPhone and the smart watch, the company aims to enter an existing market, improve the user experience and integrate it deep within its ecosystem. In this case, the main advantage is expected to be the close synchronization with the iPhone, alongside advanced chips and an AI-based software platform.

However, even within Apple they understand that the real vision is still far away. Full augmented reality glasses, which are able to project information in a qualitative way about the real world, are still considered an immature technology. According to estimates, the breakthrough in this field will come only towards the end of the decade. Until then, the new glasses may be a significant intermediate step, one that will test consumers’ willingness to embrace wearable computing as an integral part of life. If Apple succeeds, the smartphone may no longer be the central device in the pocket, but merely a docking station for what is right on our face.
