The director of the Split Municipal Corporation Vlado Pehar announced on Tuesday that the price of the fixed part of the fee for garbage collection in Split will be increased by at least 100 percent because the utility company operated with a loss of more than one million euros last year. Pehar said at the press briefing that last year they recorded a loss of more than one million euros due to the escrow fee, which according to the government decree is calculated from the beginning of 2025, but the previous administration did not keep an account of this, nor did it prepare the company for it. For this reason, the price of removal must be increased, probably by at least 100 percent of the price of the fixed part of the fee of 3.98 euros without VAT, because no one in Croatia has such a low price, he asserted.
“Calculations of all the necessary investments are in progress in order to bring the same opportunity to provide the service of variable billing in the entire city,” he said, pointing out that the price of the services is also higher. low for years, and at the same time they had an increase in employee costs.
Pehar revealed that the average salary for March in the East was about 1,800 euros net.
Regarding the waste disposal at the Karepovac landfill, he stated that, according to the studies and data at their disposal, they will be able to continue to dispose of garbage on the active site until the beginning of January or February next year.
Pehar believes that the time for using Karepovec can be extended with more optimal and rational disposal, without bringing bulky waste and with less waste disposal from other local self-government units.
Apart from Muć, which no longer sends its waste to Karepovac, Seget Donji has not brought it recently either, and from May 1, Kaštela should also take its waste to other landfills.
