Suspected jihadist in custody since November: 23-year-old apparently planned attack against “infidels” – charges filed

The accused has been in custody since his arrest on November 1, 2025. During searches that day, several pieces of evidence were seized from him. Since March 2025 at the latest, he is said to have decided to carry out a terrorist attack in Berlin out of radical Islamist sentiments, which would primarily victimize Jews living in Berlin and, in his opinion, “infidels”.

Evidence of a suicide attack

In connection with this, he is said to have informed himself about views on martyrdom and so-called jihad on internet platforms such as TikTok. In this way, he is also said to have found out about the construction of an explosive device and exchanged information about the planned attack with an unknown interlocutor.

The accused is then said to have purchased a knife and several items online that are presumably suitable for building an explosive and incendiary device. He is said to have planned to kill as many Jewish people and non-Muslims as possible with the knife and then carry out a suicide attack with an explosive belt.

He is also accused of having published videos on social media in March and October 2025 that were accompanied by songs and anthems of the terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) called Naschids. According to the information, they serve in this context for political mobilization and are often published by the official media office of IS or other foreign terrorist organizations.
