Paris: the funeral of Nadia Farès celebrated this Friday at the foot of the Butte Montmartre, a stone’s throw from her home

It is a stone’s throw from her home, in this district of Montmartre that she had made her own, that Nadia Farès will receive a final tribute. The funeral of the actress, who died on Friday April 17 at the age of 57, will take place this Friday April 24 at 3:30 p.m., at the Saint-Jean-de-Montmartre church, at 19 rue des Abbesses, in the 18th arrondissement of Paris.

On the announcement announcing the ceremony, her mother, Micheline Tchemerdji, the father of her children, the American producer Steven Chasman, as well as her two daughters, Shana and Cylia Chasman, specify that “white flowers” ​​are welcome.

Nadia Farès died five days after feeling unwell in a swimming pool at a posh sports club in the Blanche district of Paris, not far from her home. On April 12, the actress who swam four times a week stayed at the bottom of the pool for several minutes before being spotted. A swimmer tried to resuscitate her with cardiac massage, before the firefighters arrived, in vain. His daughters announced his death on the evening of April 17. According to the latter, Nadia Farès was the victim of a “cardiac incident”.

A heavy medical liability

Born in Marrakech to a Moroccan father and a mother of Armenian origin, Nadia Farès arrived in Paris at the age of 17, alone, with the ambition of becoming a singer. It was ultimately the cinema that revealed her, in 1994, in “Elles n’oublions Jam” by Christopher Frak, opposite Thierry Lhermitte.

She has made a series of notable films: “Men, Women: Instructions for Use” by Claude Lelouch, “The Demons of Jesus” by Bernie Bonvoisin, and especially “Les Rivières pourpres” by Mathieu Kassovitz, where she plays a double role as twins. From 2006 to 2016, she moved away from the screens to follow her partner to Los Angeles, where she raised their two daughters.

Returning to France after her divorce, she returned to the camera, notably in the series “Marseille” on Netflix. She was preparing to direct her first film, scheduled for September 2026. Crazy about sport and health, she had nevertheless gone through heavy medical ordeals: three heart operations and an operation on the brain due to an aneurysm.
