Milagros Tolón sees the whistles for the anthem as “clouding in a way the image of Spain and sport”

The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Milagros Tolón, said this Tuesday that she finds the whistles for the Spanish anthem that were heard at the La Cartuja Stadium in Seville during the Copa del Rey Mapfre final last Saturday between Atlético de Madrid and Real Sociedad “regrettable”, and warned that the only thing they do is “cloud in a way the image of Spain and also of sport.”

“Apart from the fact that freedom of expression has to be there, the truth is that I personally find it regrettable, not only the whistles but also the racist insults that were heard in the national team’s match in Catalonia and for which I contacted the president of the Federation,” Tolón said after the Council of Ministers.

The head of Sports made it clear that sport must have “a series of objectives” that must be far from this type of actions, which all they do is “cloud in a way the image of Spain and also of sport.”
