Nokian Renkaat announced its results for the beginning of the year.
Calculated in comparable currencies, the company’s turnover rose by 4.9 percent to 279.6 million euros from 269.5 million euros in the comparison period. According to the consensus forecast compiled by Vara Research, analysts expected an average turnover of 281.5 million euros, but the views on the growth fell between 1.5 and 7.2 percent.
The total operating profit of the segments monitored by the company was a loss of EUR 4.3 million in January-March, compared to a loss of EUR 18.5 million a year earlier. Analysts’ consensus expectation was a loss of 6.7 million euros. The forecast range was from a loss of 14.3 million euros to a profit of 0.5 million euros.
The reported profit per share was a loss of EUR 0.16, while it was a loss of EUR 0.27 a year earlier and the analysts’ forecast was a loss of EUR 0.16.
Nokian Tires advised for the year 2026 an increase in turnover compared to the previous year. The company expects the operating profit percentage of the segments to be 8–10 percent. The instructions are unchanged.
The company expects tire demand to remain at the previous year’s level in its own market areas in 2026. The development of the global economy and uncertainties in geo- and trade policy and customs, including the conflict in the Middle East, may cause instability in the company’s business environment.
Discipline has brought results
Managing director Paolo Pompein according to January-March 2026, Nokian Tires’ turnover increased in all regions and operating profit improved.
“This was the fourth consecutive quarter in which we have improved both turnover and operating profit compared to the previous year, which shows that the disciplined implementation of the strategy produces tangible results,” says Pompei in the review.
The improvement in earnings was mainly due to Passenger car tires, whose turnover in comparable currencies increased by 9.1 percent. The performance of Heavy Tires was stable.
Pompei glows The most significant highlight of the review period was the launch of the Nokian Tires Hakkapeliitta 01 tire.
“With the launch, we are raising the bar for the entire industry by bringing to the market a studded winter tire that automatically adapts to changes in temperature,” says Pompei.
According to Pompie, after the end of the significant investment phase, the company’s focus in 2026 and beyond will be on sustainable, value-producing growth. The updated strategy and financial goals published in February set the direction until 2029.
“As we stated at the capital market day held in February, the goal is to achieve a profitability improvement of more than 200 million euros by then through commercial and efficiency-enhancing measures. At the same time, the cash flow will strengthen and the investment level will stabilize, which will increase our financial flexibility,” Pompei assures.
The company anticipates that the uncertainty of the market environment and geopolitical tensions will continue.
