Israel transferred to Slovakia a multi-level air defense system worth 560 million euros

The Ministry of Defense and the Aviation Industry Concern (IAI) announced the transfer of the Barak MX (Lightning) multi-level air defense system to Slovakia.

Delivery was carried out ahead of schedule. The contract, worth approximately 560 million euros, was signed in 2024.

The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Slovak military personnel had received training and operational knowledge to operate the system.

The BARAK MX system is designed to intercept a wide range of threats – from drones and cruise missiles to ballistic missiles and combat aircraft. It is equipped with three types of interceptors with ranges of 35, 70 and 150 km, capable of simultaneously hitting multiple targets.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Slovakia Robert Kaliniak said that the first battery has already been deployed at a classified position and will reach full combat readiness in the coming weeks.

According to Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, during the war, Israeli systems demonstrated their effectiveness, and this caused an increase in global demand for them.
