Hitachi Vantara’s recent annual sustainability report highlights how the integration of tools for monitoring carbon emissions and reducing consumption has become an integral part of enterprise storage systems. The goal is to support AI-driven workflows without compromising companies’ ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) objectives.

A fundamental pillar of the new industrial strategy concerns the life cycle of products. The use of post-consumer recycled plastics has reached 50% in key components of storage systems, while recovery policies have made it possible to limit landfill disposal to less than 0.3%.
Emissions monitoring has been extended to Scope 3 categories, improving the accuracy of data for sustainability audits. Advanced diagnostic tools now allow organizations to have complete visibility into energy consumption, facilitating resource optimization at scale.

Water Sector (Belgium): The Aquiris plant handles 110 million cubic meters of wastewater annually. “Hitachi Vantara supports us in achieving our goal of creating a sustainable process to secure clean water supplies and support the growth and development of Brussels,” said Juan Ochoa, managing plant director of Aquiris. “The performance improvements achieved with VSP One Block will be significant. We constantly collect data, monitor KPIs and control purification processes. Enhancing storage capabilities will help us respond quickly to critical issues and optimize plant operations.”
Banking Sector (Türkiye): DestekBank saw a 25% reduction in data center energy consumption and a 20% decrease in total cost of ownership (TCO).
Publishing Sector (India): Malayala Manorama reduced rack space by 66%, saving 70% on energy and cooling costs for its 24-hour operations.
