A play written by AB in the style of Moliere will be performed in Versailles

Scientists studying Moliere at the Sorbonne and the French AI art collective Obvious collaborated on a performance called “L’Astrologue ou les Faux Présages” (“The Horoscope or False Omens”).

“Moliere could have created such a play. We are not reviving Moliere to talk about today’s world. We are going to Moliere, his sources, his inspirations, his creations and the best knowledge of the creative process, using a modern and evolving tool,” said Pierre-Marie Chauvin, vice-president of the Sorbonne University.

Researchers have found references in Moliere’s books to his views on astrology, which the playwright sometimes presented as a way to deceive people, and have concluded that it could have been the subject of his next play had Moliere not died of the disease.

AI and human created the play together. The AI ​​generated about 20 versions for each scene, which were then processed until a historically accurate text was obtained.

Original sketches by 17th-century artist Henri Gisse were also used to help the AI ​​model appropriate clothing.
