NYT: Court reportedly kept Epstein’s suicide note under lock and key

As the New York Times writes, the letter was sealed by a federal judge as evidence in the case of fellow inmate Nicholas Tartaglione and thus kept under lock and key. According to the report, investigators investigating Epstein’s death would have missed a potentially important piece of evidence. The report states that it is not known why the letter was sealed. The New York Times I didn’t see the letter, but requested to see it.

Tartaglione says he found the letter in a comic and gave it to his lawyers. He wanted to refute the accusation that he had attacked Epstein. After the first alleged suicide attempt, Epstein stated that he was not trying to kill himself but was attacked by Tartaglione. Epstein also told prison employees at the time that he was not at risk of suicide.

According to Tartaglione, a former police officer convicted of quadruple murder, the letter said, among other things: “What am I supposed to do, burst into tears? It’s time to say goodbye.”
