The format of compensation to businesses for Operation Roar of the Lion has been approved

The Knesset approved in its final reading the final compensation scheme for businesses and workers in connection with Operation Roar of the Lion.

Businesses with an annual turnover of up to 400 million shekels are eligible for compensation, subject to a drop in turnover of at least 25% compared to the usual monthly figure (for businesses with a two-month report, you need to show a decrease in turnover of at least 12.5% ​​over two months).

Eligible companies with a turnover of up to NIS 50,000 will receive a fixed payment of NIS 1,750. For a turnover of up to 300 thousand shekels, the compensation amount will be up to 14,000 shekels, depending on the drop in turnover.

You will be able to apply for compensation in the coming days on the Tax Administration’s online portal.

Workers who did not work during the first five days of the war would be entitled to unemployment benefits for those five days. For the remaining days, benefits will be paid only to those who were on unpaid leave for at least 10 days.

Businesses in northern Israel will be entitled to full compensation for damage and loss of turnover. For the first time, Merom HaGalil, Acre, Safed, Karmiel, Rosh Pina, Hazor HaGililit, Katzrin and Kidmat Zvi were included.

In addition, northern businesses will be paid council tax, which will be transferred directly to local authorities, bypassing business owners, to eliminate conflicts over late payments.

The base year for assessing damage in the hotel sector is 2023 – before the accumulated impact of subsequent events.

Private kindergartens will have the right to choose May–June instead of March–April as billing months, and the compensation rate for fixed costs will increase by 33%.

The scheme provides for the expansion of the right to compensation for spouses of reserve military personnel who are faced with a double blow: the absence of a breadwinner and a deterioration in the situation in their own workplace.

The compensation budget for non-profit organizations doubles from NIS 20 million to NIS 40 million.

In addition, according to the law, the approved mechanism remains in force for five years and provides for automatic activation in emergency situations without the need to adopt a new law each time.
