The mystery of the burning car: ‘There was a bang and the car was immediately on fire, and the driver ran away’

As we unofficially find out, according to what has been determined so far, there are no indications that any criminal offense was committed, but it could be that on the misdemeanor of causing a traffic accident with material damage.

– Firefighters came first, before the police, and moreć were extinguishing when the first patrol arrived. I didn’t see the driver get out or run away from the car, I only heard that he drove away later. Later, the owner also came, she was there for a few hours, she talked to the police – a local woman told us and added that she was upset because of the owner, who was left without a vehicle in such a way.

– These steps were installed here a year or two ago, because before, as soon as we left the entrance, we were right on the road. It was very inconvenient and dangerous, especially for children, because someone could get hurt. Maybe they could be a little more visible – describes our interlocutor.

He adds how they are the co-owners were afraid that the flames would spread to the building, the facade, but fortunately, the quick reaction of the firemen prevented the spread of the fire. After they extinguished the fire, the investigation team arrived at the scene. Only after they finished the investigation, the police arrived.

Another local told us that he didn’t hear or see anything because he was watching the match at that very time.

At the scene of the accident on Tuesday morning, the employees of Zagreb Roads, a subsidiary of Zagreb Holding, removed the small remains of the burnt vehicle and sprinkled and cleaned that part of the road with sand. 

Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading

Locals were afraid that the fire would not spread to the building because the burning vehicle was located very close to it, but this was prevented by the quick reaction of the firefighters.
