Trump: “Chances are high that an agreement with Iran will be reached before my visit to China”

Against the backdrop of publications that the United States and Iran are close to agreeing on a memorandum that should put an end to hostilities, US President Donald Trump made further statements on the Iranian issue on May 6.

In an interview with the New York Post, the president said that the time has not yet come for direct negotiations between the two countries. In a conversation with a PBS correspondent, Trump was asked whether Iranian uranium might be exported to the United States. The head of state noted: “Without ‘maybe’. This is what will happen.”

In the same interview, Trump said: there are high chances that an agreement with Iran will be concluded before his visit to China. “Reaching an agreement before next week would be ideal, but we are not demanding that,” he said. Trump’s visit to China is scheduled to begin on May 14.

Shortly before this, Trump wrote on the Truth Social network: “If Iran agrees to what has already been agreed upon, and this is a bigger “if,” the legendary Operation Epic Fury will end and the Strait of Hormuz will be open to everyone, including Iran. If not, the bombing will begin and, unfortunately, it will be more intense than the last.”
