Iran seizes oil tanker + new attacks between USA and Iran

Iran’s government says it is continuing to examine a negotiation proposal from the USA. Tehran has not yet responded to Washington, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei told the state news agency IRNA. As soon as the consultations are completed, the result will be communicated to the USA via Pakistan as an intermediary. The White House is currently waiting for Iran’s response to a 14-point unilateral declaration of intent.

The aim is, among other things, to create a framework for negotiations that will initially last 30 days in order to end the war. An easing of US sanctions and agreements on the future of the Strait of Hormuz are also being discussed. In addition, a basis for nuclear negotiations should be created.

US President Donald Trump had recently expressed optimism that an agreement could soon be reached. If there is no deal, we will have to start “bombing the shit out of” Iran again, he said in an interview.

The US plans were met with skepticism on the Iranian side. The Foreign Ministry in Tehran said it would respond in due course. Rep. Ebrahim Rezaei called the proposal “more of an American wish list than reality.” Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf scoffed at reports of an impending deal. He wrote on social media that “Operation ‘Trust Me Brother'” had failed and portrayed the negotiations as a public relations exercise by the US following its failure to open the Strait of Hormuz.
