Ferrara councilor Francesca Savini resigns after positive alcohol test after the accident

Misadventure in the night between Sunday and Monday for the mayor of Ferrara Alan Fabbri and the municipal councilor Francesca Saviniwho were involved in a road accident in the Mantua area.

Councilor Francesca Savini resigned after being tested positive for alcohol. According to what emerged, the two administrators were traveling in an SUV when the vehicle suddenly left the road, ending the journey after a violent impact against a street lighting pole.

The accident appears to have occurred in the Sermide area, without the involvement of other vehicles. Medical aid from 118 personnel quickly intervened on site, together with the carabinieri and firefighters, who took steps to secure the area and assist the occupants of the vehicle. Despite the dynamics of the incident, neither Fabbri nor Savini would have suffered serious consequences, so much so that they refused to be transferred to hospital.

From the investigations carried out by the police, the councilor who was driving the vehicle would have tested positive for alcohol with a value higher than the limits permitted by law. For this reason, his driving license would have been withdrawn, his car would have been impounded and he would have been charged with driving while intoxicated. The Prosecutor’s Office and the police are now completing investigations to precisely reconstruct the dynamics of the road exit and verify any further responsibilities.

The resignation of councilor Savini

“In these years, first as a councilor and then as a councilor, my objective has been to serve the community of Ferrara with commitment, dedication and respect towards the citizens. Precisely in the name of that respect, and in awareness of the public role I have held up to today – he writes – I have chosen to hand in my resignationwith immediate effect. The investigation into the causes of the accident while driving my car, which fortunately did not lead to any consequences for people or property, is underway. Clarity will be made, as it legitimately should be, in the appropriate places”, he adds.

“It is a painful decision. I have always spent myself for my city, but this is a dutiful choice, made to protect the good work done by this Administration and the level of trust achieved in recent years. A choice, mine, so that the municipal Administration can continue its work with serenity and with a new figure who can manage my delegations with the utmost attention and care”, she concludes.
