The Kremlin declares that peace with Ukraine is still far away

The Kremlin says the United States is rushing to sign a peace deal to end the war in Ukraine, but any agreement is a long way off because the issues are so complicated and negotiations are virtually at a standstill.

US President Donald Trump today announced a cease-fire from May 9 to 11, to which Russia and Ukraine agreed. Trump said: “I would like to see a big extension.”

“It is clear that the American side is in a hurry,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told state television.

The Kremlin has announced that the ceasefire agreement is for three days and that the negotiations are still suspended.

“Negotiations will probably resume, but it is still not clear when,” Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov said.
