The meninas of Gloria Estefan, Paula Echevarría or Los del Río go to charity auction on May 18

The Meninas Madrid Gallery solidarity auctionorganized by Setdart, will bring together works reinterpreted by artists and personalities such as Los del Río, Paula Echevarría o Gloria Estefan with the aim of raising funds for different social causes.

The initiative will put the finishing touch to the urban exhibition of the iconic sculptures inspired by ‘Las Meninas’ by Velázquez, which in recent weeks has turned the streets of Madrid into an open-air museum.

Among the pieces that will go up for auction will be the Menina created by the musical duo Los del Río, inspired by popular culture, as well as the intervention by Paula Echevarría, focused on Asturian identity and tradition. The artist Guadalupe García, the communicator Erika de la Vega, the singer Gloria Estefan and the presenters Javi Nieves and Mar Amate, among others, will also participate.

This year’s edition also incorporates two works focused on diversity and inclusion. One of them has been designed by children with autism together with the Autism Friendly Foundation and the CEIPSO Arquitecto Gaudí, while another, created by Antonio Azzato, constitutes the first Menina Braille, designed to be discovered through touch.

The profits from the auction will go in this edition to the SOL Foundation (Safe On Line), ONCE Foundation, Autism Friendly Foundation and Porque Viven Foundation. The bidding will remain open until May 18 through the Setdart platform and will allow collectors and individuals from different countries to participate.
