The UAE used the UN Security Council to accuse Iran of involvement in the nuclear power plant attack

The UN Security Council, at the initiative of Bahrain, held an emergency meeting on the air strike on the Barakah nuclear power plant located in the United Arab Emirates. As a result of the attack, the generator caught fire.

“An attack on a civilian nuclear facility is crossing a red line. This is an unprovoked terrorist attack, and unless the international community gives a decisive response, there will be a normalization of attacks on civilian nuclear infrastructure,” said the UAE representative to the UN, Muhammad Abu Shabab.

According to Arab News, the diplomat also stressed that the UAV strikes on civilian and critical infrastructure, including the Barakah nuclear power plant, were carried out from Iraq, but are part of a broader campaign in which Iran and its satellites are participating.

Russia was among those who condemned the strike. Its representative Vasily Nebenzya called attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities categorically unacceptable and putting the region on the verge of a nuclear catastrophe. He also noted that in the case of other attacks on other nuclear facilities, the international community has been less consistent.
