Vietnam wants Amazon to invest in artificial intelligence technology

On May 22, General Secretary and President To Lam received Mr. David Zapolsky, Senior Vice President, Director of Legal and Global Relations of Amazon Group.

At the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam affirmed that Vietnam considers the US one of its most important partners and hopes that cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop in accordance with the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Accordingly, economic, trade and investment cooperation continues to be the main driving force, while science and technology are identified as a new breakthrough in bilateral relations.

Amazon is an American high-tech corporation, operating in Vietnam for the past decade. General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated Amazon’s investment and business results in Vietnam over the past years, positively contributing to the development of relations between the two countries.

He proposed that Amazon continue to be an important partner of Vietnam in implementing Resolution 57 on scientific and technological breakthroughs, innovation and digital transformation. He hopes that the group will contribute in the fields of data infrastructure, artificial intelligence technology and training high-quality human resources in Vietnam.

He said that Vietnam is accelerating the improvement of a transparent legal environment, while promoting the role of protecting intellectual property rights.
