Administrative elections: voting tomorrow and Monday in 894 municipalities, 18 of which are the capital

There are 6,624,575 Italian voters called to vote for the annual round of elections administrative elections 2026, dedicated to the renewal of municipal councilsie the direct election of mayors. The vote will involve both the regions with ordinary statute and those with special statute, with a structured and differentiated calendar. In total 894 municipalities of which 121 have more than 15 thousand inhabitants and 773 equal to or less than 15 thousand inhabitants.

The calendar for the ordinary statute regions

In regions with ordinary statute we will vote tomorrow (with polls open from 7am to 11pm) and Monday (from 7am to 3pm). In this round, 5,250,489 voters will renew the administrations of 661 municipalities, including 15 capitals: Lecco, Mantua, Venice, Arezzo, Pistoia, Prato, Fermo, Macerata, Chieti, Avellino, Salerno, Andria, Trani, Crotone and Reggio Calabria. In municipalities with more than 15 thousand inhabitants, any ballot will be held on Sunday 7 and Monday 8 June.

The dates and capitals in the special statute regions

On the other hand, 1,374,086 voters were called to vote in 233 municipalities of the regions with special status, with a diversified calendar. In Valle d’Aosta, the first round is set for tomorrow, with a possible run-off on 7 June. In Friuli Venezia Giulia and Sicily, consultations will take place tomorrow and Monday, with a run-off in Sicily on 7 and 8 June. Finally, in Sardinia, the first round is scheduled for 7 and 8 June, with a possible run-off on 21 and 22 June. In the special statute regions, the capital municipalities to be renewed are Messina, Enna and Agrigento.

The channels to follow turnout and results

The Ministry of the Interior has announced that the turnout data and the results of the ordinary statute regions and the Sardinia region – edited by the Central Directorate for Electoral Services of the Ministry’s Department for Internal and Territorial Affairs – will be available online on the Eligendo web platform and on the Eligendo Mobile app.
