Niña Pastori, “nervous and proud” for her performance before Leo XIV: “With God by the hand since my mother gave birth to me”

Pastori Girl has been “nervous” although “very proud” to perform on June 6 at the end of the visit of the Pope Leo XIV to the ‘Cedia 24 hours’ social centerand Caritas Madrid center shelter and comprehensive care for homeless people located in the Lucero neighborhood.

“I have been with God hand in hand since my mother gave birth to me, since I have been in her womb, wow. And I never want to let go of God. I want to always go and be at your disposal“, said the singer in an interview with Europa Press.

Niña Pastori will sing before the Pontiff, who will attend the Cedia center on Saturday, June 6 in the afternoon at 6:00 p.m. and there he will hold a meeting with the homeless people served by the social work of the Church.

Always nervous, the truth is that I am very happy and very proud that they thought of me for this event. Furthermore, it will be an event precisely for the most disadvantaged, those who need it most. It is an act that the people of Cáritas do and for me it is a pride to be able to contribute my grain of sand with my music, which is what I can do or can do better,” he assured.

Pastori explained that he has had “freedom” when choosing and planning this performance on June 6, a “convenient” and “small” event in a “very humble” place. “Happy to have been or to be, God willing, in the next and in two different fields, at two different times.“, he added.

It is not the first time that the artist performs in front of the Holy Father, since in May 2003 she sang the Ave Maria before Pope John Paul II during his massive visit to Madrid.

Many years have passed, they are two different Popes. And also the place where I am going to sing is going to be different. The other time it was like for a million people, it was outrageous. I always say it: people’s heads were connected to the sky, it was like the sea. The people there were impressive,” he recalled.

Although Pastori has acknowledged that there is currently a “wave” of young people who are approaching the faith, she has defended that, in her case, the relationship is “always the same.”

“My relationship has not changed, my relationship is always the same. I understand that now you are asking this question because it is true that there is also like a wave, there are many people who are talking about that there is a lot of wave of young people who are with this point. But for me there has been no other path other than God’s.. I’ve always had it, since my mother gave birth to me. For her and for my father, because they are believers and I was raised in that culture,” he said.

In that sense, he has recognized that in his family they are “crazier believers” and that although he would like to, they are not “to be fulfilled” going to mass every sunday.
