State infrastructure company NETA has notified the TMT consortium building the green light rail line in Gush Dan that it intends to initiate legal proceedings and impose fines due to the delays in schedule and concerns that the current pace of work threatens further delays in the opening of the line.
According to Calcalist, NETA has already frozen millions of dollars in payments due to missed deadlines.
According to the report, following NETA’s intervention, the consortium intends to engage additional subcontractors to meet the schedule.
The TMT consortium unites Alstom, Electri and Dan companies. Last week, Alstom’s top managers flew from abroad for an inspection visit to Israel and were summoned to the NETA offices at the request of the company’s chairman of the board of directors, Yodfat Afek-Arazi. The meeting was attended by NETA General Director Itamar Ben-Meir and Green Line Project Manager Anat Toker-Alpert.
NETA clearly indicated its dissatisfaction with the progress of work, and above all with the pace of rail laying. At the meeting, it was stated that despite the timeline reduction plan presented by TMT in recent months, the consortium is not implementing it and no improvement has been observed.
The launch of the “green line” tram in Gush Dan was originally planned for 2025. Due to accumulated delays and the consequences of the war, the current plan calls for a phased commissioning: the southern section (from Holon and Rishon LeZion to southern Tel Aviv) should open in December 2028, the full line in 2030.
