STOCK EXCHANGE: Wall Street opened higher as expected

The New York Stock Exchange opened with rising rates after yesterday’s market holiday. Monday’s news softened the Iran crisis and investors are waiting for a possible deal. Early Tuesday morning, the United States struck, among other things, missile launch sites and Iranian boats that tried to lay mines. This tightened the mood again, but some kind of agreement is still considered possible in the market.

Due to conflicting messages, oil prices have been on the rise today, but prices are still clearly lower than on Friday.

After just over ten minutes of trading, the broad S&P 500 index was up 0.65 percent at a record level, and the techno-focused Nasdaq had risen 0.9 percent. The Dow Jones index of flagship companies was up 0.3 percent.

Wall Street’s stock market has received support from the drop in US government bond interest rates after the holiday. In Europe, interest rates have already been on the rise and the average stock market is in a slight decline.

Eli Lilly said it would buy three vaccine developers for $3.8 billion. This puts the drugmaker back into the infectious disease business. The company’s share price was up 0.8 percent.
