The dispute between Kiekko-Espoo and 17-year-old Oscar Hemming will be resolved in court

SM league club Kiekko-Espo and 17-year-old ice hockey player Oscar Hemming the long-standing dispute between will be resolved in court.

Hemming filed a lawsuit last November demanding that Kiekko-Espoo agree to Hemming’s requested international club transfer.

Kiekko-Espoo, on the other hand, demanded that the district court dismiss the lawsuit filed by Hemming. According to the Espoo club, the decision regarding Hemming’s club transfer does not fall within the jurisdiction of the West Uusimaa district court, but is a matter of decision-making under the sports rules.

District court rejected Kiekko-Espoo’s claim. According to the court, it is a court case. The West Uusimaa district court is therefore competent to handle the matter.

At the same time, the district court ordered Kiekko-Espoo to compensate Hemming for the legal costs incurred in responding to the legal objections, 10,579.65 euros.

The hearing of the main case will begin in court in mid-June.

The dispute between Hemming and Kiekko-Espoo started in July of last year, when Hemming’s mother canceled her child’s player contract with Kiekko-Espoo.

The demolition was justified by a right based on the Act on Young Workers.

Hemming would have liked to move to play in the Canadian OHL junior league, the Kitchener Rangers team.

Kiekko-Espoo did not accept the club transfer. According to the club, the cancellation of the contract was illegal.

Oscar Hemming is one of the most talented ice hockey players of his age group. Hemming got into Boston College at the end of last year and is now playing in the US college series in the NCAA.

Hemming was able to transfer to the NCAA without Kiekko-Espoo’s consent, because it does not belong to the leagues under the International Ice Hockey Federation.
